Letter From the Director: End of Year Reflections

Happy new year from AsiaWest Egg Donors! For the first blog of 2023, we have a letter from our program director, Amber, on her end of year reflections on our company has grown and dealt with changing times.

As with most companies in the US, AsiaWest has been affected by COVID restrictions for the past couple of years. Our international families have struggled to travel to the US, clinics have been running with small staffing numbers and limited availability, and domestic travel has been cumbersome. Our domestic families have been able to work through the IVF process but the process has been slower than usual the past couple of years. This year has finally seen restrictions being lifted and things are slowly recalibrating back to pre-Covid conditions.

2022 brought a lot of growth for AsiaWest. We opened Intend Egg Donors, a second database to include all ethnicities. We added over 70 donor profiles between both databases, and helped over 50 couples start their families. Our international families have started to come back to the US to restart their IVF journeys and the clinics are all at full capacity again. We added 3 members to our team this year to help all the returning families.

The holiday season is usually slow, with people spending time traveling and spending time with their families, but this year December kept pace with the rest of the year. We had 4 donor retrievals and 3 confirmed pregnancies this month – it is an amazing way to end the year!

We are excited for next year. We hope to continue our growth pace and help bring twice as many babies into the world. Happy New Year!
