We get a lot of questions surrounding donor finances – how compensation works, what expenses donors are responsible for, etc. Here is some information on how the egg donor finances work when you are in a match!
Donors working with AsiaWest earn between $15,000 and $30,000 per donation. The range varies depending on how many times the donor has donated and education level. Proven donors (donors that have donated before) earn bonuses, as do donors that have completed (or are attending) a four year college or university, and/or a master’s program of some sort.
Donors can donate with AsiaWest up to six times.
Donors will receive $1,000 of their compensation when they start the IVF medication. They will receive the rest of the compensation after the retrieval happens.
There will be an escrow account open for all donor related expenses – travel costs (flights and hotels), per diem, legal fees, etc. All donor related expenses will be paid for out of this escrow account, and the escrow account will be funded by the intended parents. The donor is not responsible for any of donation-related costs.
The only thing the donor may need to keep track of are Uber/Lyfts to and from donation-related appointments. Ground transportation will be reimbursed, but the donor will need to keep track of receipts for those to submit for reimbursement after the retrieval.
The case manager will be in charge of the escrow account during the match, and will be in contact with the donor and the intended parents to manage finances.
